Network Engineer – WLAN (Contract)
Location: DFW (Irving, TX) or Peoria, IL
Type: Contract
Pay: $46.00/hr - $48.25/hr (max) on W2
Length: 12 months, possibility to extend
Interview: 2 rounds – both in person (first round lab interview, second round on‑site)
Screenings: tech lab interview, full panel drug testing and background check upon hiring
Benefits: optional 401(k)
Responsibilities
Work directly on WLAN issue identification and resolution, including off‑shift and weekend support functions
Participate in integrated testing and user acceptance of application or infrastructure components
Work actively with business partners and vendors on infrastructure integration
Collaborate with expanded WLAN team to implement processes and/or process improvements to aid in development and support
Maintain and administer Cat WLAN including hardware, software, applications and configurations
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve WLAN hardware, software, or other network and system problems
Participate in an on‑call rotation with team members, approximately 1 week every 8 weeks
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience (Computer or Engineering related four‑year college/university degree)
3-6 years of progressively responsible IT job‑related experience
Experience with WLAN implementation and support; knowledge of risk domains, tiered domains, TCP/IP fundamentals, ethernet, QoS, IP subnetting, cabling (copper & fiber), OSPF, VLAN trunking, VLANs, and switching configuration
Functional experience with LAN operations and implementation utilizing Cisco switches
Experience with automation technologies and scripting
Relevant work experience with medium to large companies
Knowledge of configuration commands, software, and hardware components related to WLAN
Interaction with Team
Participate in an on‑call rotation with team members, approximately 1 week every 8 weeks
Remote work allowed on a limited basis; must be within 30‑minute driving distance for on‑site support when required
Must have knowledge of configuration commands, software, and hardware components related to WLAN
