Project Overview Thacker Pass is the largest known lithium resource in the United States. Once complete, the mine and processing facilities will produce more lithium carbonate than any other facility in the United States. As the EPCM contractor for Lithium Americas, Bechtel is responsible for managing and integrating the efforts of a team of contractors engineering and building the facility. The project is in the high desert and wide-open spaces of north-central Nevada about 25 miles from the Oregon border, 1 hour northwest of Winnemucca, Nevada and 3 hours northeast of Reno.
Job Summary Provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.
Major Responsibilities Work Planning & Packaging
Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
Facilitates planning construction methods and procedures.
Material Management
Initiates requisitions for field purchases.
Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
Quantities
Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
Safety / Quality Control
Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
Technical
Proactively considers continuous learning or shows interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.
System Turnover Coordinator
Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
STR / Subcontract Coordinator
Reviews and approves inspection test plans.
Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals.
Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-12 years of relevant experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
University/B.S degree in Electrical Engineering is desired but may be waived if equivalent industry experience can be demonstrated.
6-8 years minimum field civil/structural engineering experience.
Experience with Bechtel direct hire craft preferred.
Contract management experience.
Understanding of applicable Bechtel work processes including Standard Work Process Procedures.
Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs) including InfoWorks, TEAMWorks, BPS, PTR, SetRoute, eSub and other automation tools.
Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
Excellent communication and problem‑solving ability.
