Another Source's client, the San Jose Chamber of Commerce, is seeking a strategic, relationship‑driven Director of Membership Development to lead the Chamber’s growth and engagement efforts across Silicon Valley’s vibrant business community.

Lead membership strategy, recruitment, and retention to rebuild and expand engagement across industries.

Partner with the President & CEO to strengthen relationships with major investors, corporate partners, and small businesses.

Your Impact The Director of Membership Development will serve as a key architect of the Chamber’s growth and engagement strategy, leading efforts to expand membership, strengthen retention, and deliver exceptional value to the region’s diverse business community. This visible leadership role is central to advancing the Chamber’s mission of driving economic vitality, collaboration, and innovation across one of the most dynamic regions in the country.

Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Director will design and execute a comprehensive strategy for membership recruitment, engagement, and communication. This includes leading a high‑performing membership team, implementing data‑driven processes and performance metrics, and collaborating closely with the Chamber Ambassadors and Board Membership Committee to maximize recruitment and retention outcomes. A key focus will be growing and stewarding the Impact Investor portfolio, engaging corporate and large‑business members, and supporting the President & CEO and Board in cultivating strategic relationships that advance the Chamber’s long‑term vision.

What You Will Be Doing Chamber Membership Communication

Develop and implement an annual Marketing Strategy ensuring maximum Chamber brand recognition.

Serve to enhance the Chamber’s visibility and promote it as a vital organization to the business community.

Strategically assess member communication needs and collaborate with the President & CEO to develop and deliver tailored content.

Acquire proficiency in Chamber communication platforms, such as Growth Zone, social media channels, and Canva, facilitating internal cross‑training and support.

Ensure staff and membership have knowledge of utilizing Growth Zone effectively.

Supervise the Production of Chamber Programming and Events

Ensure the implementation of current Chamber programs and events, including promotional communication, logistical planning, and on‑site assistance as required.

Supervise the Membership Experience Manager in producing Chamber networking events, webinars, trainings, ribbon cuttings and anniversary celebrations, ensuring seamless execution of these events.

Utilize member feedback to identify opportunities for enhancing existing member programs and developing new events to meet evolving needs and preferences.

Source and maximize sponsorship dollars and in‑kind giving across event spectrum.

Create unique, executive‑level experiences focused on high‑tier Impact Investors for attraction and retention.

Team Member Responsibilities

Participate with the Chamber team in providing adequate coverage and sharing office management duties.

Available to work additional hours on occasion to ensure the timely completion of all responsibilities related to this position.

Minimum Requirements

Experienced team builder and leader, skilled in recruiting, hiring, training, and motivating high‑performing sales or membership development teams.

Strategic and detail‑oriented planner with exceptional project and process management abilities; adept at managing multiple priorities, timelines, and deliverables with precision.

Trusted and reliable communicator who demonstrates integrity, accountability, and transparency in all professional interactions.

Analytical problem‑solver with the ability to gather insights, assess challenges, and implement timely, effective solutions.

Adaptable and composed under pressure, capable of adjusting quickly to shifting priorities and dynamic environments.

Service‑driven mindset with a passion for building relationships, delivering outstanding member experiences, and resolving issues with empathy and professionalism.

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communicator, able to convey ideas clearly and engage a variety of audiences.

Technologically fluent, with proficiency in Microsoft Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, social media tools, and CRM/contact management systems.

Expected to serve as the in‑house expert for Chamber membership management software (GrowthZone) and evaluate CRM enhancements or replacements as needed to optimize performance and data accuracy.

Compensation & Benefits Base Salary:

$140,000 – 160,000 per year. Plus bonus structure based on new membership dollars received.
