Job Title Senior Accountant

Department Administration

Reports To Controller

FLSA Status Exempt

Summary Prepares monthly financial statements and assists the Controller and CFO with the monthly close process and analysis of financial data.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.

Prepare monthly bank reconciliation for all accounts.

Create and post to GL all department allocation entries including operating insurance, SUTA allocation, Workers Comp, and other program benefits.

Work with the Controller to ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year‑end close and audit.

Review GL monthly to ensure completeness and accuracy of account balances.

Responsible for payroll entries, payroll‑related accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, allocations, miscellaneous deposits, and Due To/ Due From entries for all entities.

Monitor financial and accounting procedures and performance of the company.

Support budget and forecasting activities.

Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.

Maintain accounting template for 401K Plan.

Reconcile AR and AP for all entities.

Manage the AP and AR process and staff of 2; Sage 300 experience highly desired.

Provide supervision and support to the Accounting department.

Support Controller, CFO and CEO with research, special projects and workflow process improvements.

Participate in the development of and support the company’s strategic plans.

Assist the Controller with board and finance committee presentations.

Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Supervisory Responsibilities This position supervises the Accounts Payable Specialist and Billing/AR Specialist.

Qualifications Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from a four‑year college or university, or five years related experience combined with training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures or governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public; read, write, and speak the English language.

Mathematical Skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry; apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.

Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
