Job Summary Salary Range - $39,671-$69,426. This is a full-time position working rotating shifts with State Benefits. Reporting to a Correctional Lieutenant III and/or Correctional Housing Unit Manager III, this position is responsible for assisting the Correctional Lieutenant and/or in the supervision of Correctional Officers at a medium and close‑custody institution.
Responsibilities
Supervising Correctional Officer III’s in a close‑custody institution with restrictive and controlled housing.
Assigning lower‑level custody staff to a particular area or post, arranging work schedules to ensure shift coverage, implementing operational procedures, and ensuring rules and regulations are followed according to policy.
Overseeing officer activities/performance and ensuring that the custody, security, and welfare of offenders are maintained.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of facility operations. Knowledge of Prisons’ policy and procedures.
Special Qualifications Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training and Standards Commission.

NC09 . State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.
About Tabor Correctional Institution Tabor Correctional Institution is located in Tabor City, North Carolina and houses up to 1,752 male offenders in a close, medium, and minimum custody facility.
Minimum Education and Experience High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of experience as a Correctional Officer, or two years of experience as a Correctional Officer III, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
