Senior Executive Recruiter at LHH/Parker and Lynch LHH is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to join a well-established commercial real estate investment and management company. This organization manages a diverse portfolio of commercial properties and offers a collaborative, team-driven culture focused on excellence and long-term growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in property accounting, a solid understanding of GAAP, and experience working within real estate investment or REIT structures. This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of complex portfolios, work closely with property and asset management teams, and contribute to a fast-paced, high-performing finance environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review monthly and quarterly financial statements for assigned properties or entities
Record and analyze accrual and cash-based journal entries, tenant billings, and rent rolls
Ensure accuracy of the general ledger and supporting schedules to align with internal and external reporting requirements
Review and approve high-value disbursements and coordinate weekly payment runs
Perform and review monthly bank reconciliations for all assigned accounts
Analyze and explain financial variances, providing actionable insights to property management and leadership
Partner with property and asset managers on annual budgeting, forecasting, and operating expense reconciliations
Monitor property-level cash flow and assist with short- and long-term cash forecasting
Prepare and process rent schedules, adjustments, and owner distributions according to operating agreements
Support the preparation and filing of sales tax and other compliance reports as required
Assist with year-end reconciliations for CAM, taxes, and other recoverable expenses
Maintain accurate accounting documentation and ensure compliance with internal controls
Provide audit support and respond to inquiries from internal and external auditors
Collaborate with internal teams, property owners, and vendors in a professional and timely manner
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience within commercial real estate, REIT, or property management environments
Strong understanding of GAAP and real estate accounting practices
Proficiency in MRI or similar property management accounting systems strongly preferred
Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and accuracy in financial reporting
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced setting
Strong communication skills with a professional, service-oriented approach
Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial information
