Counselor Social Worker II

UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring for a Counselor Social Worker II to join our outpatient clinics in Rio Rancho and Albuquerque, New Mexico. This position offers both part-time and full-time schedules. Summary

Provides, oversees, and administers psychosocial evaluation, assessment, counseling therapy, crisis intervention, and case management services in a high‑intensity clinical environment. Leads and trains lower‑level counselors, social workers, students, and interns. Minimum Job Requirements

Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field with 1 year directly related experience. Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSSW) or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with licensure pending, as documented by temporary license. BLS certification required. Verification of education and licensure required if selected. Duties and Responsibilities

Provides counseling, therapy, and psychotherapy to clients and families; prepares treatment plans, discharge plans and follow‑up care programs; offers therapeutic crisis intervention and emergency services. Collects data about patients through interviews, case histories, psychological tests, and observational techniques; evaluates data to identify causes of problems and determine therapeutic approach or referrals. Consults with other therapists and related staff; refers clients to appropriate agencies. Provides or arranges therapeutic interventions for clients in crisis conditions and serious disturbances. Refers clients to social service agencies for financial assistance; may visit clients and families at home to provide counseling and outreach services. Follows up to determine reliability of treatment, adjusting methods as indicated. Establishes and maintains case files, referrals, and related documents; prepares documentation for civil commitment hearings or legal proceedings. Consults with legal and treatment agencies regarding patient/client records, rights, and responsibilities. Plans and facilitates community outreach and education activities; serves as liaison to community organizations and schools. Provides clinical supervision to lower‑level therapists and to graduate social work students or interns; offers consulting services to other patient care professionals. Performs administrative functions such as monitoring budgets, preparing reports, and correspondence; participates in research projects. Provides formal teaching, consultation, and in‑service training to relevant professionals. Performs miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned. Benefits
