is recruiting

Fish and Game Coordinator (Region 2 Management Coordinator)

for locations in Anchorage, Homer, Palmer, or Soldotna.

Responsibilities The incumbent will manage finfish, groundfish, and shellfish sport fisheries in the Cook Inlet region of Southcentral Alaska and lead the public process that determines management objectives. They will supervise three area management biologists and the Region II Access Program.

Working Conditions The preferred duty station is Anchorage Regional ADF&G office, though any area office on the road system may be considered. Normal business hours 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Frequently meets with staff and project partners, in person and via Microsoft Teams. Requires occasional travel within the State for field visits and Alaska Board of Fisheries meetings (1–3 trips of up to a week per year).

Qualifications

Advanced knowledge of fisheries ecology and management.

Advanced communication skills, including public speaking to varied audiences.

Experience supervising professional‑level staff and overseeing complex, unrelated projects.

Experience preparing for Alaska Board of Fisheries meetings and presenting complex fisheries topics to the board.

Experience working with fisheries management plans and complex fishing regulations.

Special Note A valid driver's license is required. Requires the ability to carry a firearm while in the field.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in biology, a branch of biology, limnology, biometrics, oceanography, forestry, or natural resource management.

Seven years of professional experience as a fisheries, wildlife, or habitat biologist that includes at least one year as a program manager or technical expert or two years at an advanced professional level.
