The individual in this position is responsible for the direction of housekeeping services to all buildings at Rock Eagle 4-H Center. The individual in this position hires, trains, and supervises regular full-time employees and part-time employees in the Housekeeping Department. The individual must have effective communication skills in order to work with other department heads, guests, and employees in the department. The individual in this position manages a department of 20 employees and must be willing to work weekends, evenings, and long days in order to have the 4-H Center ready for the arrival of guests. Supervision includes the cleaning of guest quarters or cabins, cleaning buildings, providing conference setups, managing laundry, and ordering equipment and supplies. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Knowledge of a wide variety of cleaning materials, methods and procedures. Ability to give oral/written instructions. Knowledge to evaluate and check the performance of employees and perform annual evaluations. Ability to plan/organize daily work schedules for employees and check that they are performed in a timely manner and according to standards. Physical Demands
Lift 50+ pounds. May work in extreme weather conditions. Work on a ladder. Driving. Duties/Responsibilities
Responsible for planning, assigning, and supervising the work of the housekeeping staff. Hires, trains, supervises regular full-time and part-time employees. Maintains the cleanliness of cabins, buildings, floors, sheets, towels, and dining hall linens.
Percentage of time: 65% Maintains the operations of the housekeeping department within the budgetary guidelines. Attends the staff meeting on a weekly basis and leadership team meeting on a monthly basis.
Percentage of time: 20% Communicates with Area Coordinator and other department heads on a daily basis, the needs of conference groups and other guests utilizing the 4-H Center. Notifies the Area Coordinator and head of Building Maintenance of any major repair needs for cabins and buildings.
Percentage of time: 10% Recommends purchases of new equipment for the Housekeeping Department, maintains inventory, and orders cleaning supplies. Works with Area Coordinator and Head of Building Maintenance for the procurement of chairs, tables, mattresses, and other furniture to be utilized in buildings and cabins.
