General Purpose The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors open and close the Store, supervise Associates, and maintain a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment. They ensure proper merchandise presentation and a clean work area at all times, and execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.
Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
Practices safe behaviors and maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor.
Immediately corrects or reports unsafe conditions or practices.
Secures building entrance/exit, Electronic Article Surveillance devices, cash office, armored carrier pick‑ups, and register area.
Removes clutter and ensures clear egress to emergency exits.
Manages customer safety, accident prevention, reporting and emergency procedures.
Tests fire alarm systems and responds to after‑hours alarms when requested.
Customer Service
Treats all customers, Associates and leaders with respect.
Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness and professionalism at all times.
Recognizes Associates using company recognition programs.
Personal & Store Brand
Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
Maintains a professional appearance in accordance with the Dress Code and ensures Associates do so.
Keeps all store areas clean, well‑maintained and merchandised to standard.
Responsible for daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
Ensures recovery, sizing and markdowns are completed to Company standards.
Receives merchandise trucks, processes all merchandise with urgency, and handles non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
Maintains cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms and ensures back‑stock is secured and processed.
Responsible for merchandising of departments, floor moves, promotion signing, rewraps and compliance with monthly presentation guidelines.
Helps reduce loss due to damage.
Loss Prevention
Complies with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintains a strong presence on the sales floor.
Safeguards confidential information, cash, credit card information and merchandise.
Maintains the Public View Monitor system and conducts code package inspections.
Executes Company Best Practices to maximize productivity and minimize steps.
Front End Supervision & Operations
Ensures Associates execute to Company standards at the Front End and maintains pace, energy and presence at the line.
Trains and coaches Associates on cash registers, shortage control policies and other Front End procedures.
Controls retail associates’ break schedule for backups, lunches and breaks.
Ensures all equipment is working properly and maintains proper supplies and recovery for the Front End area.
Teaches all Associates the "Scan & Bag" best practice and ensures salability of merchandise on the Front End.
Fitting Rooms
Maintains cleanliness of fitting rooms.
Audits and accounts for all fitting room garment tags.
Ensures go‑back compliance throughout the day, with all merchandise returned properly and securely tagged.
Administrative Duties as Assigned by Store Manager
Performs cash pulls and bank deposits to Company policy.
Handles Front End control, refund approval, Associate purchase approval, secure tills and cash in safe.
Manages payroll administration including daily punch edits, Associate scheduling compliance, Sunday payroll transmission and payroll reporting.
Other duties as assigned by Store Manager.

Excellent verbal communication skills.
Fluency in English.
Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations used in retail.
Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements / ADA
Use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PC as required.
Stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time.
Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
Occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 lbs.
Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
Stockroom shifts may require repeatedly pushing, pulling and lifting more than 20 lbs.
