General Purpose The Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific area of the store and overall operations when acting as Manager on Duty. Duties include opening and closing, supervising associates, ensuring merchandise presentation, maintaining a clean environment, and executing company operational processes.

Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments

Practices and promotes safety as the top priority.

Maintains awareness on the sales floor, correcting or reporting unsafe conditions.

Secures building entrance/exit, monitors EAS devices, and protects cash office.

Prevents clutter and ensures clear egress, supports customer safety and accident reporting.

Tests fire alarm systems and responds to after‑hours alarms when required.

Customer Service

Treats customers, associates, and leaders with respect.

Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.

Recognizes associates using company recognition programs.

Personal and Store Brand

Represents and supports the company brand at all times.

Maintains a professional appearance according to the dress code and ensures associates do the same.

Keeps store areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.

Handles daily trash removal.

General Merchandising

Ensures recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet company standards.

Receives merchandise trucks and processes inbound deliveries.

Maintains cleanliness and organization of stockrooms.

Helps place merchandise on the sales floor and secures back‑stock.

Ensures compliance with monthly presentation guidelines and executes floor moves.

Supports reduction of loss due to damage and re‑wraps as needed.

Loss Prevention

Complies with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintains a strong customer presence.

Demonstrates integrity, safeguards confidential information, and protects merchandise.

Maintains the Public View Monitor and conducts "Code 50" package inspections.

Executes best practices to maximize productivity and minimize loss.

Front End Supervision and Operations

Ensures associates execute front‑end procedures to company standards.

Maintains pace and presence, managing the line to expedite customer wait time.

Trains associates on cash registers, shortage control, and front‑end procedures.

Controls associates’ break schedules for backups, lunches, and breaks.

Ensures equipment and supplies function properly and go‑backs are processed.

Taught the "Scan and Bag" best practice and maximizes salability of merchandise.

Fitting Rooms

Maintains and cleans fitting rooms.

Audits garment tags and ensures compliance with policy.

Ensures go‑back compliance and proper handling of returned merchandise.

Administrative Duties

Manages cash pulls, bank deposits, and front‑end controls.

Handles payroll administration, scheduling compliance, and payroll reporting.

Other duties as assigned by Store Manager.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required

Excellent verbal communication skills.

Fluency in English.

Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.

Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.

Basic mathematical calculation ability for retail use.

Working evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements / ADA Ability to use all store equipment (PDTs, registers, PC) as required.

Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100 % of the shift.

Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.

Ability to push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs occasionally; stockroom associates may need to lift more than 20 lbs.
