Pay Range $53,764.00/yr - $85,138.00/yr

Duties and Responsibilities

Collect, analyze, evaluate, and summarize data, including manipulation of data and information, to show the effects of different or altered variables on projects, plans, and proposals.

Report findings to supervisors, including recommendations and alternatives, demonstrating the rationale for conclusions and recommendations.

Create maps, charts, and graphs to communicate data in a clear and accurate fashion for internal and external stakeholders.

Evaluate projects, plans, and proposals for consistency with regional and statewide transportation plans and forecasts, and assess their effectiveness.

Implement objectives, methods of analysis, monitoring systems, and standards to evaluate program activities and analyze transportation improvement programs.

Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining systems, procedures, and manuals in support of Department activities and projects.

Calculate, report, and maintain internal and external KPI’s.

Develop annual reports for federal, state, and local governments and the public.

Minimum Qualifications

Earn a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with 24 qualifying semester credit hours in a relevant field.

For Trainee 2 or higher levels: have one year of qualifying experience or a master’s degree with 24 qualifying semester credit hours.

For the full Transportation Analyst level: have two years of qualifying experience or a master’s degree with an additional year of experience.

Qualifying experience must be directly related to highways or transportation in planning, engineering management, systems analysis, or quantitative analysis of transportation.

Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis.

Additional Comments This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the program, the position may be filled via a non‑competitive appointment, which means an examination is not required but all minimum qualifications must be met. Employees hired under NY HELPS will later have their employment status converted to competitive status, affording the same rights as other competitive class employees.
