Area Supervisor – Ross Stores, Inc.
Join our team as an Area Supervisor. The role manages a specific store area, supervises Associates, and ensures safe, secure, and welcoming retail operations.
General Purpose The Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership responsible for opening and closing the store, supervising Associates, maintaining a friendly environment, executing Company operational processes, and acting as Manager on Duty when needed.
Essential Functions
Safety & Security
– Practice safe behaviors, maintain awareness, resolve unsafe conditions, secure building entry, EAS checks, cash office security, and respond to alarms.
Customer Service
– Treat all customers and associates with respect, demonstrate courtesy, and recognize outstanding associates.
Store Brand
– Represent company brand, maintain professional appearance, keep store areas clean and merchandised, and remove daily trash.
Merchandising
– Ensure recovery and markdowns, process merchandise swiftly, receive shipments, and manage stockrooms.
Loss Prevention
– Maintain loss prevention presence, safeguard confidential information, conduct package inspections, and execute best practices.
Front End & Operations
– Maximize productivity at cash registers, train cash staff, control break schedules, maintain equipment, expedite go‑backs, and coach associates.
Administrative Duties
– Conduct cash pulls, support front end control, administer payroll tasks, and perform other duties as assigned by Store Manager.

Excellent verbal communication
Fluency in English
Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred
Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications
Basic mathematical calculations
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed
Physical Requirements / ADA Use all store equipment, stand, walk, and move around the store 100% of the time; bend, squat, kneel, climb, and lift; occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs; use janitorial equipment and other supplies.
