ABOUT THE POSITION The Superior Court of Los Angeles County is looking for dedicated and detail-oriented Pretrial Services Evaluators to perform investigative activities supporting judicial determinations regarding the pre-arraignment release of detainees. Evaluators gather and interpret criminal history information for pre-arraignment detainees and share findings with the assigned judicial officer, respond to inquiries from judicial officers, law enforcement agencies, and other members of the criminal justice community, act as a liaison between judicial officers and law enforcement agencies, and provide 24/7/365 support for the Court's eSearchWarrant and PREP Portals.

Pretrial Services Evaluators are typically scheduled in 12-hour shifts, either day or evening, including weekends and holidays, to support a 24/7/365 operation. The day shift is scheduled from 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM. The evening shift is scheduled from 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM. Evening shifts are assigned an additional pay differential. Alternate schedules that include 8-hour and hybrid day/evening shifts may also be required.

Key Responsibilities

Gathers and interprets detainee criminal history information from various automated systems.

Responds to inquiries from judicial officers, law enforcement, and criminal justice partners.

Acts as a liaison between judicial officers and law enforcement agencies.

Analyzes social, psychological, and criminological information objectively and accurately.

Maintains confidentiality and works effectively with diverse individuals.

TELEWORK OPPORTUNITIES This position may be eligible for full or partial telework following an initial onsite training period and contingent upon the needs of the Court.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS To qualify, you must meet one of the following requirements at time of application:

OPTION I:

Completion of 60 semester units (or 90 quarter units) from an accredited college with a focus in criminal justice, public administration, business administration, behavioral or social science, or related field- AND one (1) year of experience performing office support duties in a social service, law enforcement, or criminal justice agency.

OPTION II:

Three (3) years of experience performing office support duties in a social service, law enforcement, or criminal justice agency.

Note: Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Experience communicating criminal history information accessed from various automated criminal history systems.

Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with various stakeholders.

Ability to interpret data reports.

EVALUATION:

Qualifying evaluation of education, training and experience based on submitted application and supplemental questionnaire.

ASSESSMENT:

Applicants who best meet job-related qualifications will be invited to participate in the examination process that may consist of any combination of written, performance, or oral appraisal to evaluate further job-related experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

ELIGIBILITY:
