Part-Time Community Services Leader

Position
City of Rohnert Park
is seeking (5) enthusiastic and caring individuals to join our After‑School Program Team as
Community Service Leaders .
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and wants to make a positive difference in our community. As a Community Service Leader, you will help create a safe, fun, and engaging environment where kids can learn, grow, and thrive after school.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and supervise recreational programs and activities
Maintain safety and program discipline
Supervise activities in community parks, community centers, and sports center
Provide customer service
Respond to requests, complaints, and inquiries from class instructors, rental groups, and the public
Ensure the safety of the public and staff by inspecting and maintaining facilities and equipment
Monitor facility use; open, close, and secure building for events and assist in preparation and supervision of the facility and amenities for patron use
Issue and collect recreation equipment and supplies
Prepare reports and maintain a variety of logs, records, and files related to assigned activities
Perform cashing duties, maintain adequate change, prepare deposits, and balance register
Perform general office duties including answering telephones, greeting the public, computer work, data entry, processing mail, and filing
Act as a Disaster Service Worker in the event of a disaster or emergency
Perform related duties as assigned
Education & Experience
Any combination of education, training and experience which likely provides the required knowledge and abilities
Equivalent to completion of 10th grade
Experience providing recreation or leisure services is desirable
Licensing & Certifications
Possession of a Basic CPR Certificate and First Aid Certificate within 60 days of hire
Special Requirements
Must be 18 with a valid High School Diploma
Work nights, weekends, and holidays as required
All applicants for positions involving supervisory or disciplinary authority over a minor must complete and submit a CPR Code 5164 (California Public Response Code 5164)
Applicants under the age of 18, who are required to attend school, must provide a California Worker's Permit
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of recreation programs and activities offered by the City of Rohnert Park
Basic CPR and first aid
Safe work practices
English usage, spelling, vocabulary, grammar, and punctuation
Basic mathematics
Standard office practices and procedures including arithmetic
Data entry
Manual handling of furniture and recreation equipment
Understanding and carrying out oral and written directions
Enforcing safety rules, procedures and regulations regarding public facility use
Physical strength, agility, and endurance required for manual work
Courtly dealing with the public under various circumstances
Preparing reports regarding work activities
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other staff
Basic computer and cash register operations
Learning and utilizing new technology
