Overview Fleet Services by Cox Automotive is a leading provider of on‑site mobile maintenance and repair services nationwide.

The Mobile Diesel Technician II will perform DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, light repairs and diagnostics in a mobile field environment.

Responsibilities

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow‑up repairs on light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.

Diagnose, adjust and repair truck equipment (electrical, brake, cooling, diesel steering, transmissions, clutches, etc.).

Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.

Manage parts inventory and equipment on the company‑issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.

Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.

Document work in the company repair order system and upload photos via the TRAIT application.

Work independently and manage own daily schedule while maintaining high productivity and meeting standard repair times.

Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates and discuss findings.

Perform all work in compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT and company safety policies.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years of related experience (5 years acceptable).

Possess hand tools required for job duties.

ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.

Valid DOT medical card with at least 4 months remaining if card exists.

Minimum 21 years old and valid driver’s license required.

Must complete DOT pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical.

Skills & Abilities

Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills.

Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand and walk for long periods.

Excellent written and verbal communication.

Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and prioritize effectively.

Proficient in using handheld diagnostic computers, pressure gauges and lock‑sets.

Comfortable working in mobile field environment and performing road tests.
