Air Export Specialist

Air Export Operator Chicago, IL About the Role We are currently seeking an Air Export Operator to join a growing midsized freight forwarder in the Chicago area. This position will be responsible for handling the full cycle of air export operations, ensuring shipments are processed efficiently, compliantly, and on time. The ideal candidate will be experienced in managing international air freight shipments, communicating with airlines and customers, and working within a team-oriented environment. Key Responsibilities Manage day-to-day air export shipments from booking through final delivery. Prepare and process export documentation including AES filings, commercial invoices, packing lists, airwaybills, and Letters of Credit where required. Coordinate with customers, airlines, truckers, and overseas agents to ensure smooth cargo movement. Ensure shipments comply with U.S. Customs, TSA, and other regulatory requirements. Track and monitor shipments, providing proactive status updates to customers. Work closely with internal teams to ensure accurate billing and timely problem resolution. Handle rate requests and assist with quotations when needed. Provide high-quality customer service and maintain strong relationships with clients and partners. Requirements Minimum 3+ years’ experience in air export operations within a freight forwarding environment. Strong knowledge of airline processes, IATA, TSA regulations, and U.S. export compliance. Experience with cargo booking systems (CargoWise or similar is a plus). Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and customer service skills.
