Eligibility and Residence Requirement

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

All employees are expected to maintain a permanent residence within the State of Utah as a condition of employment. New employees must provide a valid Utah residential address within 30 days of their start date.

Job Summary Teach Business and Management courses for the SLCC Business Management department. Courses may include Introduction to Business, Management Essentials, Business Communications, Business Statistics, and various elective courses. Classes are offered in daytime and evening hours at any SLCC campus. Possible delivery modalities may include onsite, online, and livestream. If online or livestream are assigned, the adjunct will be trained on the modality. The adjunct will work closely with the full time faculty on course design and instruction. The department reviews applications as positions become available. The position is paid at $1,056 per instructional unit. Indicate (1) your availability to teach in-person, including days/times and locations, (2) your experience teaching online and (3) your preference for specific courses.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Teach courses at times and dates as assigned. Is present, reliable, and prompt.

Is responsive, respectful, and available to students inside and outside the classroom.

Follows guidelines set forth by full time faculty.

Gives students prompt, courteous, respectful, and helpful feedback on their work.

Provides students with clear and fair expectations and grades accordingly.

Uses department-approved materials and syllabi for the courses taught.

Makes clear to students how assessments map to the course student learning outcomes.

Provides appropriate and timely feedback for all assignments.

Returns graded assignments in a timely fashion per department standards.

Maintains student attendance records (for Financial Aid purposes) and grades.

Conducts a variety of appropriate evaluations of student performance.

Informs students of progress-to-date periodically and assigns and submits grades by published deadlines.

Assists in maintaining a safe and mutually respectful instructional environment.

Prepares and submits incident reports to Dean of Student Services for inappropriate student behavior as defined by the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy.

Maintains professional and collegial behavior.

Handles/responds to student concerns/complaints, and responds to student communications and inquiries promptly (generally within 1-2 days).

Maintains professional appearance as defined by the discipline and/or College procedure.

Completes all required employee trainings.

Knows and enforces FERPA guidelines.

Provides ADA accommodations as requested.

Other job related duties as needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities. All Faculty will maintain an on-site campus presence to encourage in-person relationships and create engaging, meaningful, and impactful learning experiences unless approved for online only courses. You are employed as an Adjunct Faculty member/ Instructor on a contract-to-contract basis, with no future expectation or obligation for employment. Your employment may be terminated At Will at any time. You are required to maintain professional boundaries with all SLCC students.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's in Business Administration from an accredited college or university.

Or a Master's Degree in a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Three (3) years non-teaching, full-time (or full-time equivalent) work experience in a business field.

College level teaching or corporate training experience.

Knowledge and experience in technology-enhanced instruction.
