Job Summary Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) is a large public community college with the most students from different backgrounds in the state. Office of Admissions Statement The Office of Admissions plays a crucial role at the college, and our oversight includes student recruitment, application processing, and aiding through the student enrollment process. Our office is the front‑door of SLCC and we are looking for team members that can enthusiastically engage students, families, and community members with warmth and care. Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Responsibilities & Job Duties Percentage Of Total Time
60% Admissions Advising : Meet with prospective students through scheduled booking appointments and walk‑ins and assist with steps to enrollment: admissions application process, testing, new students’ orientation, financial aid, scholarship, transcript, and registration assistance to facilitate a smooth transition to college. Connect students to campus resources as needed. Track all student interactions in the recruitment database (Salesforce).
30% Recruiting Outreach : Under the direction of the Advisor 3 – Adult Recruitment, create and execute recruitment plans and effort involving adult non‑traditional and under‑represented groups that affect future applications. Initiate and maintain follow‑up on contacts with community partners, adult high schools, businesses, and non‑traditional populations to develop a consistent presence within key and potential areas to increase college readiness and awareness and other communication modalities to promote SLCC and assist with admissions application, transition and enrollment process. Execute CRM communication plans through call, text, and email campaigns. Serve as a SLCC resource for adult and community agencies partners in assisting with questions and concerns regarding steps to enrollment and process, and transition to college. Deliver admissions presentations to large and small groups at adult high schools, community and business partners. Participate in fairs and tabling events to promote SLCC to adult learners. Maintain professional atmosphere that helps students feel a continued connection to SLCC.
5% Campus Tours and Admissions Events : Support the Admissions Event Coordinator by helping and participating in campus tours and events.
5% Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge
Recruitment principles related to the recruitment of adults and non‑traditional students.
Collaboration and facilitation skills.
College enrollment procedures, financial aid, and scholarship application process.
College programs and degree options, including Salt Lake Technical College and transfer options.
Tracking performance and detailed reporting.
Event planning and delivery of appropriate activities involving prospective students.
Computer database software such as Banner, Salesforce, Enrollment Rx, Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, and presentation media including laptops and LCD projectors.
Skills
Partnership development and cultivating professional relationships with nonprofits, government agencies, adult high schools, and other community organizations.
Clear and productive written and oral communications and presentation skills.
Lead discussions and make presentations to large and small groups.
Plan and organize small and large recruitment and outreach events both on and off campus.
Prepare and maintain accurate records.
Work well under pressure and independently; learn quickly and adapt to a flexible schedule, including evening and some weekend events.
Work ethically with confidential information.
Abilities
Ability to move 20 lbs.
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or 120 credit hours completed).
One (1) year of related work experience.
Trade off of 2:1 experience/education requirement.
Part‑time experience may be considered on a prorated basis.
Possess a valid driver’s license or have the ability to obtain one.
Ability to drive vehicle to schools and other sites in the Salt Lake Valley.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of the Utah Educational system and community partnerships preferred.
Higher Education experience preferred.
Bilingual – Spanish.
