Job Summary Assist Director with the coordination, design, and college-wide planning for use of facilities. Develop new facilities, pre‑construction design, master planning of all existing and future sites for campuses, learning centers, and satellites. Collaborate with college departments, administration, and outside organizations and agencies with the underlying philosophy that planning must be responsive to student growth and the ongoing and emerging needs of business and industry for education and training in their neighborhoods and communities, and to the College mission. This is a supervisory position, with responsibility over the College’s internal Interior Design, and Furniture & Moving Teams.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Knowledge of multi‑campus community college philosophy and functioning, and familiarity with instructional and student‑support services.
Ability to research and analyze survey data and statistical printouts and reports using the appropriate software and/or methods.
Basic familiarity with construction and architectural plans and fire, health, safety, and accessibility codes and standards.
Understanding of the approval process for new facilities and the ability to coordinate with various College entities.
Ability to make effective presentations.
Effective communication and human skills.
Excellent critical thinking and problem‑solving skills in order to make budget recommendations with the sensitivity to meet student, College, and business/industry needs.
Team building and a high level of negotiation skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, and ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required.
Three (3) to five (5) years of direct, paid, full‑time employment needed in the areas of planning and research.
At least 2 years of supervisor experience (may be concurrent within experience).
