Functions in our group include safety, project field management, construction management, quality control, start up and decommissioning and field engineering. Assure that all construction equipment works efficiently and safely. Diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, such as cranes, bulldozers, forklifts, graders, and conveyors, used in construction. This is a field-based role. Key Responsibilities
Use appropriate hand and power tools to repair, replace or perform maintenance on equipment. Receive equipment, document the condition, schedule maintenance, and keep equipment service records. Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects. Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance on equipment and vehicles; ensure safe fueling and oiling of equipment. Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs using engine diagnostic equipment and calibration devices. Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges. Adjust and maintain industrial machinery using control and regulating devices. Repair and replace damaged or worn parts and fabricate needed parts from sheet metal. Safely dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools. Clean parts with grease solvent or immersion in solvent tanks. Weld or solder broken parts and structural members using electric or gas welders and soldering tools. Repair, rewire, and troubleshoot electrical systems. Research, order, and maintain parts inventory for services and repairs. Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and adherence to manufacturer specifications. Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings. Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment. Assist equipment operators in completing daily inspections prior to use; follow safety policies. Ensure equipment leaving the job or warehouse is job-ready for the next assignment. May act as a lead and direct other professionals; may supervise work of others. May provide supervision, training development, and performance management of others. Identify and assess improvement opportunities and participate in continuous improvement efforts. Participate in and/or lead all safety processes and programs; strive for zero injuries; use stop-work authority when needed. Report accidents and near misses; participate in investigations as needed. Participate in pre-job planning and safety discussions; identify hazards and take corrective action. Understand and respond to safety hazards and warning devices; follow lockout/tagout procedures. Follow established safety rules and maintain a safe, clean work environment. Use effective verbal and written communication. Management Responsibilities
Acts in the capacity of a lead person and may mentor others; does not have formal management responsibility for those they supervise. Preferred Qualifications
Preferred high school graduate with some college experience. Preferred Skills
Proficient Attention to Detail Construction equipment maintenance experience Proficient Communication - Written and Oral Strong Data Entry Proficient Mathematics Proficient Organizing Data Proficient Problem Solving Forklift certified Mechanical skills Minimum Qualifications
At least 7 years of experience as a Mechanic with strong working knowledge of mechanics (A level Technician) At least 2 years experience in a manager or supervisor role Working knowledge of industrial construction equipment, machines and tools, including design, use, repair, and maintenance Unrestricted driver\'s license and clean MVR Must have all necessary tools Must be at least 18 years of age Position may require Class A CDL within 6 months of hire Pre-employment onboarding requirements may include background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search where permitted by law Work Environment / Physical Demands
Work Environment Travel may be required Mix of office, warehouse, laydown yard, and construction project site Requires working in cramped spaces and awkward positions Exposure to extreme temperatures and weather Variable lighting and exposure to noise Work around hazardous equipment and at heights Physical Demands Lift and carry up to 50 pounds Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, and move in confined or uneven areas Full range of motion; use hands to handle, control or feel objects Repetitive movements; climb and balance on structures Work up to a 12-hour shift in varying conditions Competencies
