Referral and Appointment Coordinator, SHMG
role at the Akron Campus Center for Dental Health.
Work Hours:
8:00am-5:00pm Monday–Thursday, 8:00am-2:00pm Friday (Full Time, 40‑Hour Week)

Summary:
Responsible for organizing and coordinating all components of referrals, testing, and related appointment/scheduling or preauthorization requirements across providers, departments and partnered divisions within Summa Health. Provides support and communicates necessary information to patients, peers and providers regarding status and processes of referrals and appointments.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent
Post–High‑School level coursework in healthcare or related field (preferred)
Experience & Training Required
One (1) year of experience in a medical office/registration/billing setting, including experience with insurance payers, front‑desk registration duties, medical assistant, biller, or registration staff.
Experience working with an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint (preferred).
Skills, Competencies and Qualifications
Ability to manage conversations with third‑party vendors and insurance payers to assist in timely and accurate services.
Ability to solve practical problems, interpret a variety of instructions (written, oral, diagram or schedule) and work reliably and professionally in a high‑volume, high‑demand medical environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, e‑mail; preferred skills using referral software, health‑plan web sites and electronic medical records.
Team‑based work, interpersonal communication, and independent work.
Respect for patients and clientele.
Accountability for behaviors consistent with Summa Health Commitments.
Adherence to attendance, timeliness, reliability, HIPAA and other policies.
Physical demands: Sedentary work, occasional exertion up to ten pounds, prolonged sitting.
