Yoshoku Restaurant General Manager
to unveil a new era of luxury which embodies the spirit of New York City.
With a fresh, modern expression of its rich, authentic legacy, Waldorf Astoria provides guests the exceptional environment and the personalized attention of True Waldorf Service that creates unforgettable experiences for discerning travelers with 375 rooms (plus 375 residences), 40,000 square feet of event space, holistic spa and wellness programming, and celebrity chef partnership. In this role, you will be overseeing the day-to-day operations of Yoshoku, reporting to the Director of Food & Beverage, directly overseeing an Assistant Restaurant Manager and 15 Front of House Team Members.
Find our Yoshoku restaurant through the Park Avenue entrance of the hotel, where an a la carte menu reinterprets traditional Japanese culinary practices through a contemporary lens. A refined Wagashi tea service will be available in the afternoon.
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate must be an exceptional leader with a passion for creating extraordinary experiences, a talent for training and developing others, and experienced in all aspects of restaurant operations (ex. financial performance, social media reputation, local market capture, and employee relations). At least 3‑5 years of restaurant management experience in an upscale dining environment is required. Experience in a luxurious cocktail environment, strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine and managing a unionized work environment is preferred.

Classification Full‑Time
Shift Various – must be available weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Pay Rate The annual salary range for this role is $115,000 - $130,000 and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location.
Responsibilities As a Restaurant General Manager, you would be responsible for directing and administering the activities and services of Japanese Dining in the hotel’s continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.
Plan and direct all aspects of restaurant operations to include, but not limited to, guest service standards and initiatives, product quality, cost controls and overall profitability, marketing initiatives, systems use and management, budgeting and forecasting, department management, policy and procedure implementation and enforcement and meeting participation and facilitation.
Monitor and develop team member performance to include, but not limited to, providing supervision and professional development, conducting counselling and evaluations and delivering recognition and reward.
Create and maintain customer database and partner with Sales and Marketing/Public Relations on marketing strategy.
Maximize efficiency technology system(s) (i.e. Open Table).
Monitor and assess service and satisfaction trends, evaluate and address issues and make improvements accordingly.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation and alcohol awareness standards.
Initiate and implement up‑selling techniques to promote restaurant food and beverage and services and to maximize overall revenue, including, but not limited to, creating new menus and cross‑selling products and services hotel‑wide.
Recruit, interview and train team members.
Required Qualifications
Prior Restaurant Management experience in an upscale fine dining environment.
Prior experience at a Michelin Star restaurant.
Knowledge of Japanese cuisine and service.
Significant experience managing a unionized or organized workforce.
No less than 5 years of substantial work experience at the level of General Manager.
Desired Capabilities and Distinctions
Prior Restaurant Management experience in a Forbes 5‑Star hotel or equivalent.

High level of IT proficiency.
