Overview Hiring Range :

Code I

: $30.21-$36.25. The maximum pay for this position is $42.29.

Code II

: $33.23-$39.88. The maximum pay for this position is $46.52.

Eagle County Governments Neighborhood Services Department is seeking an experienced and motivated Code Compliance Officer to join our team. This is a single position with the flexibility to hire at either the Code Compliance Office I or II level depending on the candidates experience and qualifications.

Schedule

: Monday-Friday 8 am to 5 pm. This position is slightly flexible; daily hours could move slightly for meetings and internal coordination with other departments.

Responsibilities What Youll Do (Core Responsibilities)

As a key member of our team you will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of code compliance cases. Your primary duties will include :

Case Management : Respond to investigate and resolve complaints regarding violations of the Eagle County Land Use Regulations (ECLUR) and Building Code.

Investigations : Conduct site visits, perform detailed research on property history and zoning, document findings with photos and written reports, and communicate with all involved parties.

Coordination : Build strong working relationships with local municipalities, other county departments, HOAs, and state agencies to ensure seamless enforcement and resolution.

Resolving Violations : Educate property owners on compliance requirements and guide them toward resolution through clear communication and formal enforcement procedures when necessary.

Proactive Inspections : Conduct annual site inspections of properties with special use permits, marijuana cultivation operations, and other regulated sites.

Record Keeping : Meticulously track all case activities, metrics, and resolutions using our Energov and Google folder systems.

Role Differentiation A Code Compliance Officer I will :

Independently manage a caseload of code compliance issues.

Provide excellent customer service and act as a reliable point of contact for the public.

Support program improvements and assist with public information campaigns as needed.

Participate in hearings and court cases to provide testimony.

A Code Compliance Officer II, in addition to the above, will :

Take the lead in developing and refining program policies, procedures, and strategic collaborations.

Manage the most complex and sensitive code enforcement cases.

Act as Planner on Duty and a back-up building permit reviewer on an as-needed basis.

Oversee the processing of all marijuana business licenses for the county.

Serve as a key leader in public education campaigns and interdepartmental coordination.

Qualifications Code Compliance Officer :

Experience : One (1) year of progressively responsible experience in a related field (e.g. law enforcement, regulatory enforcement, planning or investigations).

Education : Bachelors degree in Planning, Public Administration, Criminology, Environmental Sciences, Construction Management or a related field is preferred.

Skills : Strong analytical, problem-solving and customer service skills. Excellent written and oral communication.

License : A valid State of Colorado Driver's License and a satisfactory motor vehicle record.

Code Compliance Officer II (in addition to the above) :

Experience : Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in a related field.

Education : Bachelors or Masters degree in a related field is preferred.

Skills : Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking and project management abilities.

Bilingual ability (Spanish) is preferred for both roles.
