Overview The

Landscaping and Grounds Maintenance Supervisor

is responsible for the overall upkeep, maintenance, and aesthetics of exterior grounds across commercial and properties, including Winrock Park. This role combines

hands-on field work

with

direct leadership and coordination

of landscaping staff and outside contractors. In addition to traditional landscaping, this position oversees

asphalt and concrete repair, parking lot maintenance, power washing , and seasonal services like snow removal.

The ideal candidate is proactive and leads by example, by working side-by-side with the team to ensure all exterior areas are clean, safe, functional, and visually appealing.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities Note:

Lead and actively participate in the daily work of the grounds and landscaping crew across multiple sites.

Plan, schedule, and assign tasks related to mowing, trimming, planting, irrigation, weed control, pruning, and general landscape and pond upkeep.

Supervise and participate in

parking lot and walkway maintenance , including

asphalt patching, concrete repairs, striping , and

sidewalk safety .

Operate pressure washers to clean sidewalks, walls, signage, and parking structures.

Monitor work quality, safety, and efficiency while working alongside staff; ensure completion according to company standards and within budget.

Train crew members in equipment use, maintenance techniques, and safety procedures; model safe and effective practices.

Evaluate staff performance, and complete time sheets on time.

Order and manage inventory, tools, and materials; track equipment usage and maintenance schedules.

Coordinate with contractors for specialized work such as tree removal, asphalt resurfacing, or pest control.

Communicate daily with property management and other departments to coordinate needs, priorities, and project timelines.

Prepare cost estimates and assist in developing budgets for seasonal and special maintenance projects.

Identify and report safety hazards or equipment concerns; ensure full use of PPE and safe work practices by the team.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.

Minimum of two (2) years of experience supervising landscaping or grounds maintenance teams.

Strong working knowledge of landscaping equipment, irrigation systems, asphalt/concrete repair, and power tools.

Proven ability to lead by example in the field; not an "office-only" supervisor.

Excellent planning, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Ability to read landscape plans, safety protocols, and maintenance instructions.

Valid New Mexico driver's license with reliable transportation, insurance, and a clean driving record.

Availability to work flexible hours and respond to urgent issues after hours as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Certifications in pesticide application, OSHA safety, or irrigation systems a plus.
