Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (Adult Acquired)

Band 6: £41,608 - £50,702 per annum
Distant Islands Allowance: £1,406 per annum
37 hours per week
Permanent contract
Based at Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway
Location: Western Isles – beautiful archipelago with low housing costs and low crime rates; daily travel connections to mainland via air and ferry.
Car driver required for home visits
Key Responsibilities
Improve and expand services to adults with acquired disorders of communication and swallowing in acute inpatient, outpatient and community settings.
Independently manage an adult neuro‑dysphagia caseload.
Deliver neurorehabilitation to people with acute, chronic and progressive communication and swallowing disorders, including specialist AAC interventions.
Provide clinical supervision and contribute to team learning.
Utilise videofluoroscopy training and in‑house and external development opportunities.
Qualifications and Experience
Experienced adult therapist with a background in neuro‑dysphagia.
Experience delivering neurorehabilitation for communication and swallowing disorders.
Familiarity with AAC interventions.
Register with the PVG Scheme (Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme) is required.
Relocation expenses are not eligible for this post.
