THEATRE SUITE Operating Department Practitioner (ODP)
Band 5
£33,247-£41,424 per annum
Plus £1,406 Distant Islands Allowance per annum
37 Hours per week

A vacancy has arisen in the Theatre Suite, Western Isles Hospital on the Island of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. The area offers dramatic landscapes with outstanding beauty, access to wildlife, outdoor pursuits and traditional culture and values.
We are seeking an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic Operating Department Practitioner to join our theatre team. The role will provide varied experience in Anaesthetics, Scrub and Recovery areas within the theatre suite, with rotation in Elective General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Oral surgery, Urology, Endoscopy, Emergency Trauma and also a Named Nurse role.
Working hours will be shiftwork (early/late) Monday‑Sunday, with participation in an out‑of‑hours “on call” rota. Applicants must be living within an 11‑mile radius or be prepared to stay in residency when on call.
Strong interpersonal skills with a flexible, team‑orientated approach are required.
The successful applicant must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and have a Professional Veterinary Guardianship (PVG) scheme registration.
This post is not eligible for relocation expenses.
