Clinical Counselor (CC) position at Wasco State Prison (WSP) in Wasco, Kern County. Position number: 180-220-0050-XXX. Department: California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) in partnership with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). Responsibilities
Apply counseling interventions and psychotherapeutic techniques within the scope of applicable Business and Professions Code(s) and license to improve an incarcerated individual’s mental health and the effectiveness of preventative skills and behaviors developed for wellness. Work preventatively with the incarcerated population including those not in the mental health delivery system to provide access, outreach, and prevention wellness strategies. Minimum Qualifications
Education: Possession of a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Counseling or Psychotherapy that meets the requirements set forth in the Business and Professional Code 4999.32. Licensure: Possession of a valid license as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science. Applicants who do not qualify for licensure may be admitted into the examination and may be appointed but must secure a valid license within four years of appointment; however, an individual can be employed only to the extent necessary to be eligible for licensure plus one year. Note: A Training and Development (T&D) assignment will not be considered at this time. Other Information
