California Correctional Health Care Services . Location: Folsom State Prison, Represa, CA (Sacramento County). This is a limited term position, which may be extended or become permanent. Responsibilities
The Clinical Counselor applies counseling interventions and psychotherapeutic techniques within the scope of applicable Business and Professions Code(s) and license, for the purpose of improving an incarcerated individual’s mental health and the effectiveness of preventative skills and behaviors developed for wellness. The CC works preventatively with the incarcerated population, including those not in the mental health delivery system, to provide incarcerated patient access, outreach, and prevention wellness strategies. Under the general direction of the Sr. Psychologist, Supv/Supervising Psychiatric Social Worker I, the CC works in Mental Health Services. Minimum Qualifications / Education
Education: Possession of a Master or Doctoral degree in Counseling or Psychotherapy in content and meets the requirements stipulated in Business and Professional Code 4999.32. Possession of a valid license as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science. Applicants who do not qualify for licensure by the California Board of Behavioral Science may be admitted into the examination and may be appointed but must secure a valid license within four years of appointment; however, an individual can be employed only to the extent necessary to be eligible for licensure plus one year. This job includes a base pay range provided by California Correctional Health Care Services. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience. Note: As of PLP 2025, some salary adjustments apply for eligible employees; refer to the posted information for details. Important: California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) and California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) employees may be eligible for a $5,000 referral bonus if selected for hire and remain employed for 90 days.
