We are looking for a 1WTE 37‑hour permanent Band 6 Community Specialist Mental Health Nurse to join our Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) Team in Renfrewshire. You will work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team of nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists and allied health professionals to assess and provide interventions and treatment to children and young people in Renfrewshire experiencing moderate to severe mental health and neuro‑developmental difficulties, including those whose vulnerability and mental health is impacting negatively on most areas of their life.
As part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s pre‑employment checking, evidence of current NMC registration will be required prior to start date. Candidates who can not provide confirmation of current NMC registration may not be shortlisted. This post requires PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland Check.
Responsibilities
Carry out all relevant forms of care in partnership with patients, families/carers, and other service providers.
Adopt a systemic approach, offering interventions that account for the young person, significant others, family, other service providers, and education.
Collaborate within a multi‑disciplinary team to assess and deliver interventions and treatment for children and young people with moderate to severe mental health and neuro‑developmental difficulties.
Ensure interventions address the vulnerability and mental health impacts on the young person’s life.
Qualifications
First Level Registered Mental Nurse (RMN/RNLD) with NMC Registration.
Relevant post‑registration experience working with children and/or young people with a range of mental health/learning disability and neuro‑developmental difficulties.
Ability to work independently using own initiative and without direct supervision.
Excellent communication and team working skills and a positive attitude towards children and young people.
Understanding of children and young people’s mental health and developmental needs.
Understanding of family, community, and social systems.
Competent in multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency teamwork, with knowledge of factors impacting mental health and emotional well‑being.
Ability to conceptualise vulnerability, identify risk factors, and intervene to build resilience.
Commitment to personal and professional development and attainment of competencies identified in ‘Essential CAMHS’.
Evidence of organisational skills and experience of multi‑disciplinary working.
Current NMC registration evidence and PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland Check.
