Position Description Immediately hiring a Permanent Full‑Time Experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Grand Rapids, MI.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly Pay: $27.00 per hour

Certification Bonus: $100 per new ASE Certification, up to $700

Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter

Sign On Bonus: $2,000 at 30 days and $2,000 at 90 days

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm (Second Shift)

Annual Merit Pay Increases every year

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Vocational or technical certification (preferred)

Basic tools required

Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work, etc.)

Two (2) years or more of combined classroom training and work experience (preferred)

Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)

Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire

Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background/motor‑vehicle check inclusive of drug and alcohol verification for last 3 years

Responsibilities

Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties

Conduct standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections

Perform preventive maintenance and diagnose mechanical/electronic problems using diagnostic computer

Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and execute repairs

Replace defective components as instructed

Perform facility maintenance duties

Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints

Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation

Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)

Perform other support duties as required (including Service Island support)
