Overview
Research Associate - cGMP Engineering & Cell Manufacturing Facility at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Performs a variety of routine and specialized laboratory tests and experimental procedures for original research within a well-defined body of scientific knowledge and typically contributes to larger research efforts of independent investigators. Responsibilities
Assist with planning specific research procedures; develop and troubleshoot new techniques that have been written up in the literature; propose alternative experimental procedures to the principal investigator. Assist with care and maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies; ensure necessary supplies are available; periodically order inventory and supplies as needed. May supervise or participate in the technical training of new staff and students in the laboratory; demonstrate basic laboratory techniques to laboratory assistants and technicians, research fellows, residents, and students; review research literature and attend conferences and courses to stay abreast of the research field. Process blood and tissue samples provided to the laboratory from different studies; collect plasma and blood cells for procedures; extract cells and other biological material as needed for various research projects. Qualifications
Required Education and Experience Master’s degree and the equivalent of eighteen (18) months of full-time professional research experience in a laboratory, clinical or scientific research environment; or Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of thirty (30) months of full-time professional research experience in a laboratory, clinical or scientific research environment. Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices. Preferred Qualifications
1-2 years experience in biological sciences, chemical/biochemical engineering or related scientific discipline Background knowledge of quality by design Knowledge of process development Knowledge of technology transfer Knowledge in statistical design of experiments (DOE) Salary and Benefits
