We are seeking a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer who will specialize in Modeling and Simulation of complex technical solutions. This person will join a highly skilled team of systems engineering technologists and algorithm developers supporting various contracts and IRADs within Missiles and Fire Control.
Responsibilities
Design and documentation of model and simulation requirements and architecture
Develop, verify, and validate complex models and simulations such as missile 6-degree-of-freedom simulations and effects-based simulations
Evaluate system performance in complex scenarios and environments and verify system and subsystem level requirements
Perform critical studies, analyses, and test activities
Support ground and flight test efforts including Hardware‑In‑The‑Loop (HWIL) activities
Support program reviews and technical interchange meetings with internal leadership and/or external customers
Basic Qualifications
Master's degree or above in computer science, physics, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, applied mathematics, or similar
Position located at a facility that requires special access
Willing to work onsite in a classified area or lab environment
Foundational level proficiency in C++
Intermediate proficiency in Matlab or Python
Experience with guidance, navigation, autopilot, inertial tracking, and servo control algorithms
Experience with complex vehicle models and simulations such as missile 6‑DOF simulations
Strong math skills in linear algebra, matrix math, statistics, trigonometry, and coordinate transformations
Desired Skills
Experience operating in Linux environments
Experience with Agile development
Ability to perform preflight system performance assessment and post‑flight verification analyses
Experience with DevOps/DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines and software version control such as Git
Strong written/verbal communication and organizational and interpersonal skills

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five‑day work week while others may be condensed. National Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $82,900 – $146,165. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location.
