Psychologist – Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Rehabilitation Psychologist (Open Rank/Track Faculty) Position: Psychologist in the Division of Rehabilitation Psychology within the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at The Ohio State University. The role involves providing individual psychotherapy, outpatient and potential inpatient services, and contributing to teaching and research.

Department The Division of Rehabilitation Psychology is part of OSU’s Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, known for its leadership in neurorehabilitation and musculoskeletal injury programs.

Position Overview The Psychologist will primarily provide individual psychotherapy to patients with acquired neurologic and musculoskeletal disabilities, including those with cancer, functional neurological disorders, amputations, and burn injuries. The position also offers opportunity to work in outpatient clinics and expand into inpatient services. The candidate will support teaching, scholarly activities, and participate in departmental and institutional committees.

Duties & Responsibilities

Provide clinical evaluation, assessment, and individual and group psychotherapy for patients with acquired disabilities (neurologic or musculoskeletal).

Deliver outpatient psychotherapy for adults diagnosed with cancer, functional neurological disorders, amputation, and burn injury.

Participate in inpatient services as the division expands its presence at the medical center.

Engage in teaching responsibilities, including clinical supervision of residents, fellows, and students.

Contribute to research and scholarly activities aligned with the department’s mission.

Serve on committees, attend professional meetings, and represent the program at community speaking engagements.

Requirements

Successful completion of an APA‑accredited doctoral program in Clinical or Counseling Psychology and an APA‑accredited internship.

Post‑doctoral fellowship training in a healthcare or rehabilitation/medical setting is preferred.

Board certification or eligibility in Rehabilitation Psychology or Clinical Neuropsychology.

Strong interest in academic medicine and willingness to engage in teaching and research.

Faculty rank commensurate with applicant’s qualifications (Open Rank/Track).
