Component Design Engineer – Turbomachinery (Fans, Compressors, Combustors, and Turbines) Location: Indianapolis, IN

Working Pattern: Fulltime

Join Rolls‑Royce’s global Engineering, Technology & Safety (ET&S) Turbomachinery organization and develop complex engineering solutions that satisfy cutting‑edge aerospace functional and physical requirements.

What You Will Be Doing

Create component design definition in accordance with module, system, and customer interface requirements.

Create dimensional tolerance stacks, establish GD&T requirements, and support manufacturing to produce conforming hardware.

Support the supply chain in procuring hardware including review of supplier documentation, assessment of non‑conforming hardware, and review of supplier change proposals.

Review and approve component requirements for their responsible sub‑system’s hardware; develop, approve, and execute validation plans to demonstrate compliance.

Present and defend design solutions and technical work to program leadership and other stakeholders.

Support manufacturing, assembly, service, and aftermarket issues to keep production on target and fleet in operation.

Lead investigations of in‑service and/or development hardware issues, including engine investigations, failure analysis, root cause/corrective action, and reporting.

Basic Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 2+ years of experience in design engineering, Mechanical and/or Aerospace Engineering.

Master’s degree in Mechanical and/or Aerospace Engineering.

JD/PhD in Engineering.

Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Preferred Requirements

Experience with turbine component design methods, structural analysis, thermals and life spreadsheets.

Experience with coatings and their application within turbine and hot section systems.

Broader experience with rotating and static component design in highly stressed or critical assemblies.

Experience with Siemens NX, Teamcenter and/or ANSYS Workbench.

Experience with GD&T and the definition release process.

Experience with computer programming and design optimization.

Experience with manufacturing/quality, especially assessment of non‑conforming hardware.
