Tax Manager - Non-Traditional Firm (Private Equity) ($150-275K) Base pay range: $140,000.00/yr - $225,000.00/yr

Additional compensation: Annual Bonus.

Summary Senior technical leader responsible for advanced tax strategy, complex planning, and high-impact review for HNW families, family offices, and closely held operating and investment entities. Acts as a subject-matter resource across the platform and leads cross-functional initiatives. Big 4 private client or family office leadership experience strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Architect tax-efficient structures for operating companies, family investment partnerships, and special-purpose vehicles; lead implementation with legal and wealth teams.

Lead complex planning: GRATs/IDGTs/SLATs, CRUT/CRAT strategies, QSBS, opportunity zones, 1202/1045 planning, multi-state residency, S-corp vs partnership optimization, 338(h)(10)/336(e) analyses, and M&A readiness.

Oversee review of complex individual, trust, estate, partnership, and S-corporation returns; resolve high-judgment issues and finalize firm positions.

Direct controversy strategy for audits and high-stakes notices; coordinate outside counsel as needed.

Develop and promulgate firm positions, templates, checklists, and technical guidance; elevate review standards and cycle-time.

Mentor managers and advisors; lead technical trainings and case studies.

Evaluate and implement technology to improve modeling, workpaper integrity, and reviewer efficiency.

Originate and scope planning projects; communicate value, risks, and trade-offs directly with clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications

CPA required plus Masters in Taxation or JD (LLM in Tax a plus).

7+ years of advanced private client/partnership tax with extensive planning leadership.

Deep command of flow-through taxation, wealth transfer strategies, investment partnership allocations, and multi-state issues.

Demonstrated success leading complex restructurings, transactions, and family office initiatives.

Exceptional technical writing, research, and client communication.

High-net-worth client base and Big 4/large-firm pedigree strongly preferred.

Compensation

Bonus: 14% of base
