Laurel Valley Farms, Inc. is seeking a skilled

Diesel Mechanic

to perform maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, including

Volvo loaders, skid steers, man lifts, forklifts, and other machinery

used in the

mushroom composting industry . This role is crucial in ensuring that all equipment operates efficiently and safely in a demanding production environment. Key Responsibilities

Perform

routine maintenance

and

repairs

on diesel-powered loaders, heavy equipment, and industrial machinery. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues. Conduct

preventative maintenance , including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks. Inspect equipment for wear and tear, ensuring proper safety compliance. Repair and replace damaged or worn-out components such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, brakes, and undercarriage parts. Work with

mechanics, operators, and supervisors

to identify issues and minimize downtime. Keep accurate records of maintenance and repairs using company documentation procedures. Ensure all

OSHA and company safety protocols

are followed during maintenance activities. Order and track parts, ensuring necessary tools and components are available for scheduled maintenance. Weld or fabricate small parts when necessary for equipment repairs. Respond to emergency breakdowns and make quick, effective repairs to keep operations running smoothly. Qualifications & Skills

Experience:

3+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably working with heavy equipment. Technical Knowledge:

Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and transmissions. Certifications:

ASE Certification or equivalent is a plus. Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift heavy components, work in confined spaces, and perform tasks in various weather conditions. Problem-Solving:

Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Work Ethic:

Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team. Experience

Prior work experience in agriculture, composting, or heavy industrial settings. Experience working on Volvo loaders and other heavy machinery. Familiarity with hydraulic systems and welding. Benefits
