Trayline and Room Service Assistant 20 Hours
Join our team at Beth Israel Lahey Health as a Trayline and Room Service Assistant.
This role includes responsibilities for assembling meals and ensuring patient satisfaction through prompt and accurate service.
Shift Details Start times: 3:30 PM – 4:15 PM; End times: 7:30 PM – 8:15 PM. 5 days a week, 4‑hour shifts. Rotating schedule including weekends and holidays.
Essential Responsibilities
Assemble patient meals using the At Your Service Room Service Dining system and prepare special trays for mechanical and other therapeutic diets.
Arrange and maintain serving stations, keeping supplies stocked and reporting inventory levels to supervisors.
Deliver patient trays to Room Service Associates or nursing desks on the floors as needed.
Maintain proper supply levels for tray assembly and complete side work throughout the shift.
Clean and sanitize workstations, counters, and equipment.
Examine completed trays for completeness, place them on a cart, and return used equipment to the dish room.
Brews coffee and tea for patients and staff.
Adhere to safety, infection control, and HACCP procedures, taking and recording temperature checks whenever required.
Assist in dishroom duties, floor stock prep, and nursing unit kitchen supplies.
Provide assistance to patients with meal opening and meal-consumption support.
Use the room-service computer system to track meal status and retrieve soiled trays.
Communicate special patient or family requests to the Customer Service Representative or managers.
Portion and label supplemental feedings, maintain formulary room cleanliness, and manage inventories.
Attend required safety and training meetings and perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred; some high‑school experience acceptable.
0–1 year related food‑service experience.
Basic computer familiarity and navigation of web‑based applications.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of food‑safety principles.
Experience in a high‑volume food‑service setting.
Customer‑service experience.
Experience with cleaning and sanitation practices.
Ability to maintain high standards for work areas and appearance.
Flexible schedule availability, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
Punctuality and reliable attendance.

Physical & Environmental Requirements This role involves frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting items up to 25 lbs. Safe handling of sharp objects and exposure to environmental hazards such as respiratory, auditory, and potential infectious disease risks can occur.
Pay Range $18.74 – $25.22 per hour (base hourly wage). Additional compensation may arise from shift differentials, call pay, or overtime.
