Teaching Faculty - Department of Statistics
The Department of Statistics, at the
Pennsylvania State University , University Park location, invites applications at the rank of
Lecturer, Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor and Teaching Professor
depending on candidates' qualifications. Applicants must have a master's or terminal degree (Ph.D.) in statistics, data science, or a closely related field by appointment start date; at a minimum a master's degree is required. The courses for which this position would be responsible may range in level from introductory undergraduate to upper-level undergraduate statistics and data science courses. There is also the possibility that the qualified candidate(s) would be expected to teach graduate-level statistics and data science service courses for non-statistics students. Examples of courses the faculty member may be expected to teach include a capstone course for statistics majors and a course on introductory data science and computing. If desired, the opportunity to occasionally teach in an online setting or to help design/redesign courses that benefit our majors is also a possibility. It is expected that the successful applicant(s) is committed to quality undergraduate teaching. The position is a term position that is initially funded for one-year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding. Education and Experience:
Candidates at the
Lecturer
level must have a master's degree or terminal degree (Ph.D.) in Statistics, Data Science, or a closely related field by the employment start date. Candidates for
Assistant Teaching Professor
must possess a terminal degree (Ph.D.) in Statistics, Data Science, or a closely related field by the employment start date. Alternatively, candidates may have a master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, or a closely related field and have demonstrated ability as a teacher and advisor. Candidates at the
Associate Teaching Professor
must possess a terminal degree (Ph.D.) in Statistics, Data Science, or a closely related field by the employment start date, have demonstrated ability as a teacher and advisor, and show evidence of professional development and scholarship. Candidates for
Teaching Professor
must possess a terminal degree (Ph.D.) in Statistics, Data Science, or a closely related field by the employment start date, have demonstrated exceptional ability as a teacher and advisor, and show evidence of a high level of professional development and scholarship. Application Requirement:
