Full-Time (36 hours weekly, Days-7a-7p, or Nights-7p-7a, with weekend rotation)

Residency Program Our New Grad Residency Program is a 12-month program that supports newly licensed registered nurses (RNs) as they make their initial transition to practice in one of our five medical centers. The program includes a comprehensive, evidence-based clinical orientation and a nursing professional development transition to practice curriculum.

Over the course of the first three months, you'll integrate theory and skills through live specialty-track clinical academies led by nurse educators.

From months 3 to 12, you will participate in monthly transition-to-practice nursing professional development workshops.

You will build relationships with fellow participants in your cohort in a supportive environment.

Clinical discussions and interactive experiences cover professionalism, critical thinking, patient outcomes, and well-being.

The Nurse Residency Program Coordinator provides individualized mentoring.

What You’ll Need

Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing. BSN preferred.

Registered Nurse licensure from the State of North Carolina

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 1 year of hire for Adult Critical Care, Adult ED

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 1 year of hire for Network ED, Peds ED, PICU and NICU, and other areas per unit guidelines

Ability to provide direct and indirect patient care

Strong oral and written communication skills

Ability to work collaboratively

What You’ll Do You will provide nursing care to patients using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. You will direct and lead other assigned team members and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards of care and practice.

In addition to participating in the Nurse Residency Program, your job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

1. Providing Comprehensive Patient-Centered Care:

Using the nursing process, address the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs of patients and their families. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, intervention, care coordination, health education, and goal evaluation, in accordance with WFBMC policies.

2. Ensuring a Safe and Healing Environment:

Maintain a secure, therapeutic setting and uphold patient privacy, professional behavior, and safe use of technology and equipment.

3. Effective Communication:

Facilitate information sharing within the care continuum and contribute as a team member.

4. Professional Excellence:

Demonstrate professionalism, participate in governance, adhere to care standards, engage in peer review, and promote leadership, teamwork, and critical thinking.

5. Patient Advocacy:

Advocate for patients in all care settings.

6. Efficient Care Delivery:

Coordinate efficient delivery of patient care, identify priorities, and improve outcomes.

7. Professional Growth:

Participate in governance and professional development.
