Traveler’s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit Unit Information: Beds 24; 21-23 patient census on average Required Experience: 2 years of strong high acuity Pediatric ICU experience – must be comfortable in a high acuity, fast paced environment Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Respiratory, Trauma (penetrating and non-accidental trauma, NAT), DKA, Seizures, Neurosurgical, Acute/Chronic Renal Failure, Orthopedic, Surgical, Transplants (Kidney and whole/partial Liver), complex Medical, Blood Disorders Patient Ratios: RN varies on acuity: 2:1, 1:1, 1:2 Required Licensure & Certifications: RN: BLS, PALS Skills required: EPIC experience, Artic Sun, EVDs, Camino device (ICP and temp monitoring), Belmont Rapid Infuser, management of critical care vasoactive drips and invasive lines (ART lines/CVP), aseptic techniques, basic dressing changes, ventilator and trach management, HOFV, suctioning, feeding tubes, chest tubes, epidurals, PCAs, sedation/analgesia drips, Foley, Alaris & Medfusion pumps, bedside procedures with providers, discharge skills, CRRT experience Ability/Competency to float to Pediatric CVICU (discussed during interview) Department Support and Equipment
Support within the Department: CNA 1 per shift; Unit Secretary per shift; Charge nurse 24/7; Phlebotomy 24/7; IV/VAT Team 24/7; Resource Nurse; RT 24/7; Intensivist 24/7; Residents and APP in house Technology/Equipment: EMR EPIC; IV Pumps Alaris and Medfusion; Med dispensing Omnicell; Monitors Phillips; Equipment Belmont Rapid Infuser, Accuvein, PIV Ultrasound, Artic Sun, Camino, EV-1000 Vigileo, iStat and Accuryn Floating: Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, Gen Peds – float as needed Orientation and Scheduling
Orientation: Facility and unit – NEO; 2 days departmental Scheduling: Weekend rotation – 2 Fridays, 2 Saturdays, 2 Sundays, 2 Mondays every 6-week schedule (can group or separate eight shifts within 6 weeks) No call for travelers; may float to PCVICU, Peds Progressive, NICU or general Peds units if PICU not utilized Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays; unit requires eve and day of every other holiday while contracted RTO: Manager approval Shift times: 0645–1915, 1845–0715 Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks Scrub Color: Navy Parking: Free Unit Culture: Teamwork, Trust, Accountability, Respect, compassionate hard-working Candidate Requirements
