RN - Neonatal ICU Overview

Travel nurse position in NICU with a focus on high acuity, fast-paced care. Radius rule applies: traveler’s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit. Unit operates with a high census (53 beds plus overflow; patient census around 58). Responsibilities and Qualifications

Required Experience: 2 years of strong Level 3 and/or Level 4 NICU experience. MUST be comfortable in a high acuity, fast paced environment Will you accept a first-time traveler? Must have manager approval on first time travelers, as this will depend on current staffing Clinical focus areas: Respiratory Distress Syndrome, TTN (Transient Tachypnea of the Newborn), MAS (Meconium Aspiration), Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia; Congenital Heart Defects (TOF, VSD, HLHS), PDA, PPHN; NEC, Feeding Intolerance, GER, Acute/Chronic Renal Failure, Birth Trauma, Congenital Anomalies, Sepsis, NAS, TORCH infections, Hypothermia, Hypoglycemia Patient care categories: Respiratory, GI/GU/Musculoskeletal/Endocrine; Neuro; Cardiac RN Ratios: 1:1, 1:2, 1:3 depending on acuity Required Licensure & Certifications: RN – BLS, NRP Skills: EPIC experience; managing invasive lines (ART lines/CVP), EVDs, Camino device (ICP and temp monitoring), vasoactive drip titration, aseptic technique, dressing changes, ventilator and trach management, HOFV management, suctioning, feeding tubes, chest tubes, epidurals, PCAs, sedation and analgesic drip management, foley management, Alaris and Medfusion pumps, bedside procedures with providers, discharge skills, CRRT experience, NICU-specific care including ECMO basics Unit Information and Support

Support within the Department: Unit Secretary every shift; IV/VAT/PCVC Team, 24/7; Resource Nurse; RT, 24/7; Intensivist, 24/7; Centralized and bedside Tele monitoring; Unit Based Educators (AM and PM); Clinical Supervisors x 6 Technology/Equipment: EPIC; Alaris and Medfusion syringe pumps; Omnicell; Phillips monitors; PIV Ultrasound; Tecotherm; MOMs for breast milk scanning Floating: Neonatal PCU; Gen Peds – float to Pediatric CVICU, PICU, and general Peds units as needed based on prior experience Orientation: NEO; 2 days departmental Scheduling and Unit Rules

Scheduling: The combination of the 2 Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays can be grouped together or worked separately as long as eight shifts occur within the 6-week period Unit requirement: Eve and/or Day after holiday and day of holiday, every other holiday while contracted Weekend rotation: 2 Fridays and 2 Mondays, plus every other weekend (Sat/Sun) every 6-week schedule No call for travelers; if NICU cannot utilize them, they may be floated to similar units listed above Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work holidays as scheduled RTO: Manager approval – prefer travelers with minimal RTO needs; if present, contract extension may be needed Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks based on unit needs; Clinical Supervisor will provide dates of needs Other Notes
