Position Summary The Department of Large Animal Medicine at the University of Georgia seeks a clinical-track faculty member in Farm Practice to join the Field Services Section as a Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful candidate will provide high‑quality clinical care, engage in rigorous teaching, and contribute to service and scholarly activity in the general large‑animal ambulatory setting.
Responsibilities
Clinical teaching of veterinary students, interns and residents (approximately 35‑40% faculty effort). Includes clinical and pre‑clinical instruction and supervision of student rotations.
Research activities: original studies in areas such as equine podiatry, lameness, and imaging (10% faculty effort). Expected to produce abstracts, presentations and peer‑reviewed publications.
Clinical service to the teaching hospital: first‑opinion large‑animal care for equine, small ruminants, bovines, camelids, and pet pigs, support for programmatic clinics and statewide association activities (45% faculty effort).
Participation in faculty committees, state and national professional associations, and authorship of educational materials.
Qualifications
DVM or equivalent from an accredited veterinary college.
Required clinical experience: 2 years post‑DVM in large‑animal practice for Assistant status; 7 years and board certification (or equivalent) for Associate status.
Certified Georgia veterinarian license and valid Georgia driver’s license.
Comfort and expertise in primary care across a broad spectrum of large‑animal species.
Preference for candidates with experience in teaching, laboratory, and didactic instruction of veterinary students.
Strong communication, organization, teamwork, and adaptability skills.
