Job Details Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Occupational Therapy Assistant for a 14‑week travel assignment in Knoxville, Illinois. Required Qualifications
Valid Occupational Therapy Assistant license in compliance with state regulations
Current BLS Certification (AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications
COTA Certification (NBCOT)
Graduate of an accredited program in occupational therapy
Occupational Therapy Assistant experience; new grads are welcome to apply
Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position
Summary The Occupational Therapy Assistant provides direct, hands‑on therapeutic interventions to support patients in regaining or developing skills necessary for daily living. Working under the supervision of a licensed OT, the assistant implements individualized treatment plans, assists with adaptive techniques and equipment, and educates patients and their families on strategies to enhance functional independence.
Essential Work Functions
Deliver individualized occupational therapy interventions in accordance with the established treatment plan.
Maintain and operate adaptive equipment and assistive devices.
Provide education to patients and caregivers about occupational therapy techniques and strategies for effective self‑management.
Collaborate with Occupational Therapists and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care and ensure continuity of treatment.
Monitor patient responses during treatment, accurately documenting outcomes in the medical record.
Promptly report findings to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
Provide care in diverse clinical settings, including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and community clinics.
Adjust interventions to meet the specific needs of each environment.
Prioritize tasks efficiently to manage multiple patients in a dynamic work environment.
Maintain a safe treatment environment by adhering to infection control protocols and safety guidelines.
Perform additional duties assigned within scope of practice.
Required Essential Skills
Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
Proficiency in following written and verbal instructions, and in PC skills.
Physical abilities – stationary work, moving equipment (50–100 lbs), pushing, pulling, bending.
Interpersonal skills – work effectively with a variety of personnel.
Technical/motor skills – fine manipulation, assist with procedures, and use department equipment.
Mental requirements – cope with frequent contact with the public, meet deadlines, work under close supervision when needed, and maintain concentration to detail.
Sensory – visual acuity and effective communication.
