Travel Nurse, 13‑week assignment in Albemarle, NC. 13 weeks on call, rotating, 75% of holidays. 3 weeks ago posted.
Not a teaching hospital – no residents or students.
Advanced Primary Stroke Center.
Beds: 10 ICU and 4 PCU (PCU used only for surge capacity).
Location: 301 Yadkin St, Albemarle, NC 28001 – 109 licensed beds.
Average census: 7.3 patients/day.
First‑time traveler? Yes.
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses
Sepsis, COPD, CHF, chest pain, MI, NSTEMI.
Stroke, TIA, new‑onset arrhythmias, uncontrolled DM & DKA.
Minor trauma, ethanol withdrawal, ARDS, respiratory illnesses (flu, COVID, PNA).
Hybrid ICU and Med/Telemetry mix possible.
Patient Ratios
RN: 1:2‑3, acuity dependent – often 3 patients per assignment.
CNA unavailable overnight; 1:10 for dayshifts.
Required Knowledge/Certifications
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
Stroke experience / NIH assessments.
Cardiac rhythm interpretation, ART lines & CVPs.
Critical‑care drips, chest tubes, PIV starts, TNK admin.
Vent‑management (RT manages settings), trach care, NGT placement.
PCA pumps, wound care, 12‑lead EKG (stat).
Medication gtt management: critical‑care gtts, cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, IVF.
Support within Department
House Supervisor, Charge RN, CNA (day). 24/7 RT and Hospitalist.
Phlebotomy, IV/VAT team (dayonly).
Intensivist rounds Mon‑Fri 6 am (night RN reports).
Intubation first call – Hospitalist → CRNA, ED 3rd line.
VCC overnight contact for urgent situations.
Technology/Equipment
EMR: EPIC; IV pump: Alaris; Med dispensing: Omnicell; Monitors: Phillips.
Region 1 – Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH (peds only)).
May float to any facilities in region if needed – floating per region needs.
Mid‑shift travel paid – time traveling remains on clock.
For floating mid‑shift: paid for time traveling between facilities.
Orientation
NEO – 2‑3 days departmental.
Weekend rotation: at minimum, every other.
No call for Travelers.
Holiday expectations: 75% of holidays.
RTO: Manager approval.
Shift times: clock in before 1845, but not before 1838.
Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks.

Scrub color: navy.
