Salary or Pay Range: $29.46 - $36.63 Salary Frequency: Hourly Salary Grade: 266 UC Job Title: MED OFC SVC CRD 3 UC Job Code: 009214 Appointment Type: Staff: Career Percentage of Time: 100 Shift (Work Schedule): Mon-Fri Location: Cancer Center (HSP093) Union Representation: EX-Patient Care Technical Benefits Eligible: Yes This position is 100% on-site Minimum Qualifications
High School / GED equivalent or related work experience Experience with medical office and/or health care scheduling or insurance procedures (medical terminology, appointments, medical records, insurance verification, cashiering, billing, etc.) Ability to manage a variety of concurrent assignments, organize and prioritize effectively, and adapt to changing workload Problem solving skills to independently define problems and implement solutions Decision making skills to exercise delegated authority and seek assistance as needed Interpersonal skills to maintain professional relationships with co-workers, patients and the public Proficiency with computer systems (email, spreadsheets, word processing, medical office management) and typing Writing skills in clear and correct English Bookkeeping skills to maintain patient financial records and related reports Organizational skills to manage priorities in a high-volume, interrupt-driven setting Filing skills and knowledge of HIPAA and medical records confidentiality Knowledge of health care insurance systems (e.g., Medi-Cal, MediCare, HMO, PPO, etc.) Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines Experience with medical office procedures (terminology, appointments, records, insurance verification, billing) Preferred Qualifications
Three (3) years of customer service and/or call center experience Recent EMR experience (e.g., EPIC) including In Basket and Work Queues Training or experience in billing, authorizations, referrals, medical terminology, and insurance plans Recent experience in outpatient medical office Front office experience in a clinic, physician or health insurance setting handling referrals or authorizations Oncology experience, including radiation oncology Knowledge of UC/Health System policies or ability to learn Familiarity with requisition systems for ordering supplies and medical records Benefits
