Hanwha Qcells USA Corp (Qcells USA), headquartered in Irvine, CA. Qcells USA specializes in providing utility-scale modules, solar photovoltaic (PV), and battery energy storage systems (BESS) project development, along with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services nationwide.

Summary:

The Commercial Manager will play a pivotal role in driving the commercial success of our utility‑scale solar and BESS projects. They will directly engage with one or two projects at a time, using strong communication and influential skills. The role requires proven experience in project management, construction cost control, negotiation, risk management, and contract management.

Reporting:

This position reports to the Senior Manager of Commercial Management, or another senior executive as designated. The role most often works remotely but prefers candidates in PST or MT time zones, or based in the Ankeny, IA or Teaneck, NJ offices.

Travel:

This role may require up to 50% travel.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

Lead commercial activities for assigned projects, covering financial and contractual aspects.

Collaborate closely with project directors, managers, and construction leaders to meet project objectives within defined constraints.

Act as key stakeholder in subcontract negotiations, ensuring favorable terms and compliance with company standards.

Assess project risks and opportunities, developing strategies to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.

Oversee and manage change orders, ensuring accurate documentation, impact assessment, and effective implementation.

Develop and enforce strategies to ensure adherence to contractual obligations and company policies across assigned projects.

Regularly evaluate project performance, addressing contractual disputes promptly to minimize impact on timelines and budgets.

Prepare detailed monthly executive reports, including variance analysis, risk logs, forecasts, and change logs.

Conduct weekly reconciliation of resource spend and trends.

Co‑chair weekly project performance reviews, providing feedback and recommendations to enhance performance.

Initiate and maintain project cost control plans and procedures.

Participate in project schedule development and weekly review, including critical path management and progress tracking.

Manage the project budget, including cost tracking and forecasting.

Engage with clients and stakeholders to align expectations with project goals, and be accountable for timely invoicing, cash flows, and change management.

Ensure project‑level compliance with reporting standards and project management practices.

Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by Senior Management.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or 2+ years of related work experience.

Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant tools.

Insight into key risk factors and ability to advise EPC cost estimates.

Cross‑cultural interaction capability, both within and outside the organization.

Near‑term action orientation and a strong desire to continuously improve and push limits.

Strong team player with high professionalism and self‑management.

Willingness to travel up to 50% as required.

Good hearing, speech, and vision to communicate and use computer.

Occasional climbing of stairs.

Up to 50% travel.

Work Environment

Regular professional office setting.

Noise level ranges from low to moderate in office; moderate to high at construction sites.

Role may transition to onsite or hybrid arrangement as business needs dictate.
