Valid Speech Language Pathologist license in compliance with state regulations Current BLS Certification (AHA/ARC) Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree or higher in Speech Language Pathology Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology Experience in Speech-Language Pathology; new graduates welcome Other certifications or licenses may be required Summary
The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) evaluates, diagnoses, and treats communication and swallowing disorders across all ages. Working in a variety of settings, the SLP develops and implements individualized treatment plans aimed at enhancing speech, language, and cognitive-communication abilities. The SLP collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and caregivers to improve communication outcomes and quality of life. Essential Work Functions
Use standardized assessments and clinical observations to evaluate speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders. Design personalized therapy programs based on evaluation findings and patient goals. Continuously assess patient progress, adjust treatment plans, and maintain detailed documentation in the electronic medical record. Educate patients, families, and caregivers on communication strategies, exercises, and safe swallowing practices. Coordinate care with interdisciplinary healthcare teams. Maintain a safe treatment environment by adhering to infection control protocols and safety guidelines. Engage in quality assurance initiatives and professional development activities. Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice. Required Essential Skills
Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills. Physical ability to remain stationary, move equipment (50-100 lbs), push, pull, and bend. Interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse personnel. Technical/motor skills for fine manipulation and assistance with procedures. Mental resilience to cope with frequent public contact and pressure. Sensory (visual acuity) and effective communication abilities. Benefits
