Echocardiograph Technologist
performs comprehensive cardiac ultrasound examinations per physician orders using advanced echocardiography technology. This role is vital in identifying the presence or absence of cardiovascular disease, supporting diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, and ensuring patient safety and comfort. The technologist will assist physicians during invasive echocardiography procedures, modify techniques as necessary for special clinical circumstances, and comply with departmental and ASE (American Society of Echocardiography) standards.
This position requires shared on‑call and standby coverage for emergency studies, including evenings, weekends, and rotation through other Portland facilities as needed. Key Responsibilities
Perform diagnostic cardiac ultrasound exams and evaluate findings for accuracy and completeness. Assist with transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), trans‑catheter echo‑guided procedures, pericardiocentesis, and contrast‑enhanced or stress echocardiography exams. Utilize comprehensive anatomical and physiological knowledge to deliver accurate cardiac assessments. Modify procedures based on clinical needs to ensure relevant and cost‑effective results. Comply with ASE standards and all departmental quality and safety protocols. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain accurate records. Provide technical assistance and mentorship to junior staff or students as needed. Required Qualifications
Active Oregon Sonographer License (upon hire). National Cardiac Sonography Credential, one of the following:
Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) – CCI Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (Client) – CCI Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) – ARDMS
Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (upon hire). Preferred Qualifications
Associate's Degree in Applied Science from a CAAHEP‑accredited program in Noninvasive Cardiovascular Technology or Diagnostic Medical Sonography. 1+ year of experience performing cardiovascular ultrasound exams (minimum 800 exams across imaging modalities). Pediatric echocardiography experience. Familiarity with advanced heart failure imaging (mechanical support devices). Experience with echo‑guided‑catheter procedures.
