Water Plant Operations Manager – Parsons Avenue Water Plant
Role Overview Full‑time position to manage the operations of the Parsons Avenue Water Plant (PAWP). Plan, develop, and administer the resources of the operation’s staff to process and distribute water in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. Coordinate and direct activities of workers engaging in monitoring, operating, and controlling water treatment equipment. Develop, administer, initiate, and interpret policy, practices, and procedures governing the Operations Section. Advise upper management on operations issues such as budgeting, staffing, planning, meeting regulatory requirements, monitor expenditures to ensure budgets are followed, and assist in long‑term plans for facility improvements. Supervise operations personnel and act as Plant Manager in their absence.
Responsibilities
Plan, develop, and administer resources to process and distribute water in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Develop, administer, initiate, and interpret policy, practices, and procedures governing the Operations Section.
Prepare and direct preparation of periodic status reports.
Advise upper management regarding operations issues such as budgeting, staffing, planning, and meeting regulatory requirements.
Monitor expenditures to ensure budgets are followed.
Supervise operations personnel, approving/disapproving leave requests, conducting performance evaluations, and initiating disciplinary action.
Coordinate and direct activities of workers engaged in monitoring, operating, and controlling water treatment equipment.
Manage the safety program and OSHA training for all employees.
Assist in formulation of long‑term plans for facility improvements.
Collaborate with watershed, distribution, water plant, and laboratory managers to ensure quality goals and regulations are met.
Qualifications
Two (2) years’ experience leading and participating in monitoring, operating, and controlling water treatment processes in a water plant rated Class III or higher.
Valid Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) State of Ohio Class III or IV Water Supply Operator certificate (or willingness to obtain within 4 years).
Valid driver’s license.
Schedule Monday‑Friday 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Compensation Salary range is $46.41‑$69.63/hr.
